Mikayla says she studied for about an hour a day to prepare for the regional bee in St. John's, and has since doubled or even tripled her efforts for the national and international competitions. As studious as she is, Mikayla's true passion is the visual arts; she loves scrapbooking, card-making and her art class in school. She is cheered on by her parents and two younger brothers and no doubt by the people of her hometown whom she describes as "very friendly"!
